Release Notes ReqSuite® RM 3.10

In ReqSuite® RM 3.10, which will be released on February 26, 2023, more than 150 improvements and new features have been integrated again. The most important changes are listed below.

Bundled email notifications

To reduce the flood of email notifications, only very urgent messages will be sent directly. For the multitude of notifications, the messages are now bundled every four hours.

Display of changes in the e-mail notification

Emails that inform about an editing of elements now get a display of the concrete changes made. This makes it possible to see directly in the e-mail already what has changed.

Table & Board operations

Advanced search in the relationship window

An advanced search has been added to the window for maintaining and managing relationships. Thus, it is now possible to find the elements to be linked not only by name and ID, but also by other attributes.

Empty search

In ReqSuite® RM 3.10 the advanced search has been extended by the possibility to filter for empty entries. By selecting the operator = and entering the keywords NULL or EMPTY, it is now possible to find elements where, for example, a relationship to other elements is missing.

Reuse & Assistance

Synonym support

With ReqSuite® RM 3.10 it is now possible to consider synonyms during search, similarity analysis and data reconcilation. This makes it possible to find semantically matching elements even with linguistic flexibility. However, since the meaning of many terms is industry- or even company-specific, no generally applicable thesaurus was initially stored. Instead, the administrators have the possibility to maintain technical terms and their synonyms themselves via the term management.

User administration via Google Workspace

From now on, user administration can also be carried out via Google (Workspace), analogous to Microsoft (Azure Active Directory). Accordingly, a login via the Google account is also available. However, like the login via the Microsoft account, this feature is only available in the cloud version of ReqSuite® RM.

Linking via dynamic dropdowns

With dynamic dropdowns, ReqSuite® RM has already enabled shortcuts for maintaining to-1 relationships for years. However, since this is not always useful and you occasionally want to use dynamic dropdowns without directly creating a shortcut, there is now the possibility to deactivate the automatic shortcut function for dynamic dropdowns.

Color highlighting of calculations

In order to highlight the results of automatic calculations, ReqSuite® RM now offers the possibility to store corresponding conditions. For example, by entering “<17: #ff0000; <28: #00ff00; >=28: #0000ff” it is possible to set different highlighting colors for values below 17, values between 17 and 27 and values greater/equal 28.

Exports & Imports

New commands for Word exports

From now on the output command INSTANCES can be extended by the specification of the fields to be displayed from the input form. If you do not want to export all fields of the input form to Word, you can use the WITH command to restrict the output. The example ###REQUIREMENTS:INSTANCES WITH ID, NAME, DESCRIPTION” would therefore export only the three rows for the ID, the name and the description of a requirement and ignore all other fields of the input form. If the WITH command is not used, the fields will be exported as before.

Furthermore, in ReqSuite® RM 3.10 the possibility has been created to specify the attribute to be displayed in the heading when dynamically generating such headings. This can be done with the USING command. In the example ###REQUIREMENTS:INSTANCES ON Heading1 USING Key##” the value of the attribute “Key” would thus be written into the heading and not, as usual, the name.

Interfaces to other tools

External forms

In ReqSuite® RM 3.10 the possibility was created to dynamically generate input forms that can be integrated into external tools like e.g. intranet sites to be able to post requirements from there into ReqSuite® RM. This makes it possible, especially for large companies, to offer all employees the possibility to enter requirements without actively working as users in ReqSuite® RM. However, since this feature is charged separately, please contact us in advance if you are interested.
